clown dying - need help

Ok first, a friend gave me a few fish that were in his tank. He seems to have caught what he thinks is brook disease. He can't keep any clowns in there without them dying, all other fish show no symptoms and eat normal. I put 2 Perc clowns, a six line wrasse and a royal gramma in a qt 10G tank. It already has been cycled. It has an AC50 filter and a MJ600 in it alone with some pvc pipe for hiding and a bare bottom.

Treated all fish with formalin .5 CC per half gallon of water for 45 minutes. Next day dipped the clowns again. Wrasse carpet surfed, royal gramma is doing fine, lost one clown other seemed ok. Redipped the remaining fish again. This clown was eating until about 4 days ago. Game him another dip and added him directly to my 90G tank. He still won't eat and his orange has a black tint to it. He stays in one spot right by the bubble coral on bottom, but whe i take my mag float around the bottom he swims all over and acts fine except he won't eat and has a black tint to him. None of my buddies fish have died and he has like 10 fish all together, they're all eating and looking good. My royal in QT is eating and looking good. I have a perc in my nano tank and he eats like a pig no matter when you feed him or what you feed him.

I don't know what's wrong with this clown or if it was brook or something else, but it doesn't seem to affect any other fish, he was in QT for 4 weeks and still alive, You would think that the formalin dip would have cured if it was brook. Also i lost a few fish to the same thing about a month and a half ago from the same tank from the LFS. All my other fish are fine, the clowns would just stop eating and swim at the bottom and then be dead. They have never shown any signs of scratching or anything like that. They didn't stay at the top like they were short of breath or anything. The food i'm trying to feed the clown now is brine, mysis and emerald entree mixed up and soaked in kent garlic extreme and selcon. I'm desperate here, the guy's still alive but he won't be for long if he doesn't eat. I have been feeding heavily and shut off all PH so the food stays right there and he doesn't even try to eat. Other fish are a regal tank, yellow tang, green manderin, lawnmower blenny and a firefish. All look good and eat like pigs.

I need to do something before this clown dies too. ANYTHING ANYBODY HAS TO OFFER WILL BE VERY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

Man you are having no luck are you..??:(
I have no idea what is going on but hopefully someone here will and i wish you luck and please keep us posted as to what happens...

UPDATE

Ok gave the clown another Formalin dip (.5 ML to a half gallon of water) for 45 minutes, took some freshwater and got the PH the same and temp and did a 15 Minute dip in freshwater after the Formalin dip. Put the fish back in the QT tank but he acts as if he can't swim. He's moving his fins around but can't seem to lift off of the floor of the tank, and if he does, he goes right back down. I added some Cupramine to the QT tank (1 ML for the 10G tank) and i'm supposed to add another ML in 48 hours.

Does anybody know why he's swimming on the bottom? is it because of osmotic shock? i've done everything I can now and covered all the diseases. I guess it's out of my hands now.

BTW i was reading the sticky about brook and that doesn't look like this fish has that. I will try to post of pic of the fish in a minute.

Ok here's the pictures. It looks as if the top part of him is a dark color and the bottom is still the orange. Don't know but he's swimming all around now. C'mon people please try to help I don't want to loose this little guy.

Did you make sure the temp of the formalin dip stayed below 80? Formalin becomes lethal at this temp

Why the copper? I would remove this ASAP! The copper is useless unless you have ich, why use another toxic med?
I would leave him be in the qt, keeping the water pristine. You may want to use an antibiotic if the fin deterioration gets worse.
Good luck....I hope this little guy pulls through!

well he didn't make it through the night, I took pictures right after he died to see if anybody knows what is going on. I thought brook had white powdery stuff everywhere? he didn't. Here's the pictures. Would someone please try to help here, i'm so frustrated.
Only clowns get sick and die. All other fish look fine, they just start swimming in one spot, quit eating and their skin on the top part of their body gets dark. Here's the pictures of the little guy.

Hey there.

Sorry for all your frustration. On that second pic is almost looks like he had ick spots or velvet? I can't even imagine how bad that had to be to not be able to help them. Hopefully someone can help you figure it out.

If its ONLY effecting Clowns then I would think you'r dealing with Brook.....although it can effect other fish.

As I look back on this thread, I have a couple of concerns....

Did you do 3 formalin dips, 2-3 days apart? 20 drops per gallon?

Why did you do the 15 min freshwater dip afterwards? That is too long and was unnecessary. Very stressful for the fish
