In Memoriam
The tank was fine and so was every other clown fish.

this paticular clown fish loved to stay on the bottom and he got what I called was like sticky cotton candy around his mouth and he liked to sleep sideways at night but durring day he was normally swimming like the others.
He acted just like a dog. i thought nothing of it so was not alarmed.

but since he acted different my hermit one day came over and ate him.

Grrrr yes i got rid of the hermit crab..... i never knew he was a hunter also.

So I am thinking was this stuff around his mouth the leading cause of him able to be killed by my hermit?

inachu,

Was the hermit really large - say with a claw the size of the clownfish's head? If not, then I doubt it actively hunted the clownfish, more likely it was scavenging it when you discovered it. Hermits will grab dead or moribund (nearly dead) fish, but the species I've seen in the trade are not predatory by nature.
Can't really say what the mouth lesion was - pictures really help in cases like that. My advice would be to watch the remaining fish very closely and if they show the same symptoms, post a picture of it.
