clown fish getting ready to spawn??

It appears that my female clown fish is "slashing," she has cleared an area below the frogspawn that she and the male host in. Does this mean that she is "pregnant" or will become "pregnant".

Thanks!

Clowns don't get pregnant but it could be a sign they are going to breed. Lots display breeding behavior and never do. Good luck with yours.

Rob.

It vary's greatly depending on the species and how many times they have laid eggs among other things.
Let me know how it goes. I've got some juvenile clowns and some clown larvae right now.
My onyx/ocellaris pair laid a huge egg mass the last time. If you are even thinking of raising the larvae if and when they hatch, feed the clowns until they can't eat anymore. Eggs tend to be more viable if the parents were fed well before they spawn.

Well I shall see if they make it to the egg laying stage... If they do make it that far, how is the best way to remove them from the tank. If the eggs happen to be laid on a rock, do I just move the rock to a seperate tank?

Thanks for the tips!!

I would put a tile in now.. Then you can just pull the tile out and replace it with another. Removing a rock would be changing their home and they may stop spawning on you. If they still lay on the rock you'll have to catch the larvae after they hatch and transfer them.

Tile works great

I like to pick the white ones. I bought mine at the home depot on 88th near Wadsworth. I've been using mine for months now with no problems.

cool thanks for the info everyone, I will get a piece of tile and report back if anything should happen!

Definitely use the back. They like the rough side. The tile I use is a granite looking tile that has the colour (or color for those in the USA) all the way through. Most use plain white tiles mine were just what I had on hand.
