clown fish jumped out

My clown fish that I've had since March jumped out. I found him behind my tank. Can I just buy 1 new one to pair with the one I still have? Or will my clown beat up a new one? I'm totally bummin out...

The clown may have jumped because it was being chased and harassed by the other one... So it may indeed bully the new one for a while.

It likely will. You might trade the one in toward several new or a mated pair. Sorry for the jumper!

I had it happen too a few months back. Bought another one that is bigger then the one that didn't jump. Seems like they are bffs now.

The larger of the pair will be the female. If you have a female, she will be less likely to do in a small, younger male---bullying, yes. They do that. They're clowns. If you get another, larger, female, the larger female will likely kill the smaller.

Put anti-jump protection on that tank: netting, grid, or something: many marine fish are good jumpers. THis works well in the ocean, to escape. Not so much in a 2x3' tank.

sorry for your loss. i ran open top for quite a while before i lost a clown to jumping myself. i would highly recommend the DIY screen kits for a topper.

as far as the clowns, i got a new one and made sure it was smaller than my existing clown. then i introduced them and thankfully they got along well. best of luck to you.

+1 getting a new clown is tricky but ive always heard to go smaller so its less dominant

Anyone else's clowns host weird things? Mine host my overflow and my powerless. I have an anemone but they want nothing to do,with it.
