Clown Fish Question

I have another question for you guys...

I currently have two different tanks with one clownfish in each tank. (One is a naked clown and one is just a misbar perc.) I am starting a new tank and I was playing around with the possibility of combining my two clowns. Both have never been with another fish before. The naked clown is about 4 years old and the misbar is still pretty young. (I got him about 3 months ago and he was a juvi then). The tank that they are going into is completely new to both of them.

What do you guys think? Is this a possibility or do you think the clowns will end up fighting? Its really no problem keeping them in seperate tanks but I think my misbar is lonely...

Thanks!

I think it depends on a few things.

What size of the tank are they going too?

Being completely new they might do just fine if you put them in at the same time and let them scope out new homes.

Any anenomes going with them?

Im putting them into a 29 gallon aquarium. No, i do not have any anenomes. I do have a pretty big Duncan coral that the naked clown has taken to...err...well he likes to attack it and then makes friends with it when it is time for him to sleep. Do you think I should not add this right away if it will remind him of "home" and get possessive with it?

Well...is the Misbar a Percula or Ocellaris? IS the Naked a Percula or Ocellaris? Misbar and Naked are just an additive name for description. However Percs and Oce's have been know to coexist with one another, and even mate! It's always just a chance though. These are two of the more peaceful clowns, and why some have had success.
So, if both are Percs or Oce's you'll have an even greater chance. With the Misbar being young yet they may take to one another. Some aggression may be present at the start, but do keep an eye on things. If you start to see aggressive fin nipping (I mean Parts of the fin missing!) remove immediately.

I am pretty sure I have one of each. My naked clown is the ORA naked false perc. The misbar clown looks like a much lighter orange color (in comparison to the naked one at least) so I am pretty sure he is a true perc.

I think I'll try and give it a shot. If they look like they are getting too rough with one another I will put one back in its original tank.

I wouldn't put them in such a small tank. Odds are that one of them won't survive the territory war while one of them is busy getting the "female" beat out of her.

Sorry, I've been out of touch with the world for the past few days...Finals week is approaching...

Thats fine with me on the anemone...I've never had much luck with them. Thank you very much for the offer though! It is much appreciated.

Nate - I dont want to lose either one of my fish so maybe the best option is to just keep them seperate.

That's just what I would do. Clowns can be fiercely territorial, and in smaller tanks if they aren't already paired up, I wouldn't risk it. You could try and see if one is harrassing the other mercilessly.
