Clown fish trouble

I bought a clown fish about 3 or 4 days ago and he stays at the top of the water, I went and had my water tested, I don't know the exact numbers buy my PH is good and my nitrate is 5ppm so I did a 5 gallon water change in my 29 biocube, salidity is 1.026 and everything else seems fine, so I bought it a anemone thinking it would make it feel better but he is still at the top of the tank and the temp is 80 degrees.

This is my first tank and I have two guys helping me that have been doing this for years and one even works at the LFS so I have had a lot of help setting up, any idea's on what to do or if this is normal?

I have a friend that his clowns stayed on the surface for 1 month before venturing down to the bottom on a 75g.

my two black and white ocelaris clowns stayed up in the front top corner of my cube until about a month in and they finally started exploring, i wouldn't think to hard about it. What kind of clown is it? and the anemone isn't going to draw it's attention down from the top, it will decide where it wants to go until it's comfortable and in the end it might not even host the anemone

Ok, thanks for the heads up guys, the species I can't remember but it was not a expensive one, only paid $18 for it and its orange and white, I hope it does host the anemone thought lol that would stink if it didn't.

i am guessing you prob. got a occ.

what type of anemone did you did?

if you have pics that will help idetify what you have.

how old it the tank? acclimation process? some times it can be a sign of acclimation stress - they should be fine.

I just bought the tank but it was a established tank for over 2 years and I re used the water and everything, but it is a ocellaris clown fish, and I got a long tentacle anenome, i don't have a phone rightnow until tomorrow to snap some pics, and I bought the OCC from the LFS as a trade in tank bred fish. Just added a 425 hydro for more flow too since its a 29 biocube, trying to upgrade things to help get this tank better.
