Clown Goby

Anyone else clown goby disapear for a couple days and then reappear?

My second fish is a green clown goby (first was a tailspot blennie) For the first two days i had him he hung out on my only coral, which are a zoa colony.

Since then he has disappeared for a day or two at a time, and then will appear for an hour or so, then disappear again. Im assumeing he found a spot on the back of my rock work he likes where i cant see him, but im just wondering if they are normally very seldom seen?

I have a 55g standard, tank, and saw no aggresion between him and my blennie, last time i saw him he appeared healthy,so just curious. He doesnt come out at feedings, maybe he is eating pods? I seem to have a decent population of those going at the moment.

They are cryptic fish unless there are a lot of corals and/or rock work for the goby to hide in and feel secure. When your as small as they are you make a nice meal for most other fish, so look for the goby to be hiding most of the time

Thanks for the response Dmorty217.

I figured that was the case. Hoping as i add more corals over time he will become more secure and i may see him more often.

I am mostly concerned he is getting enough to eat, since he doesn't come out at feedings, but he appeared healthy last time i saw him, so hopefully he is getting enough to eat.

The longer the fish is in the tank the more secure it will get and be out more. Not too worry when the little guy gets hungry he will come out and eat and if you have a good pod population he is getting plenty to eat
