LFS has a couple of these marked as Bicinctus.

My first impression is no. Bicintus tend to look a little more(for lack of a better word) "elegant" than that. In addition, after looking through a couple books, it doesn't appear that bicinctus have any sort of tail stripe at anytime during their development.

My assessment would be someone at the store knows a little about clowns, but not a lot about clowns. They bought some clarkis and noticed some of them didn't have 3 stripes and figured they must be bicinctus. I would ask to see the invoice before I bought them.

That doesn't mean I'm right, but that would be my gut feeling from those pics. If you find out they were tank raised, then all bets are off, because TR clowns don't always have the body conformation of their wild counterparts.

But based on what I have read wild Allardis look like the one in the photo right above this post. Tank raised ones don't have the same pattern on their tails. So the clown in question could very well be a tank bred Allardi.

The ORA Spotcintus clowns have a tail stripe as juveniles. My pair did and the hundreds of juveniles I have do as well. The coloration is very much a match for captive bred bicinctus. Too me though the body shape is off slightly, but that could obviously be a result of captive breeding. Bicinctus also have a very distinct up and down swimming motion that I often think makes them a little more unique.
