clown larvae swim into sides

I have 8 day old GSM clown larvae that just started swimming into the sides and corners of the tank(5 gal about 2/3 full). Waving my hand in front of them sends them zooming to the middle again, but remove my hand and they are back.

I have been feeding rotifers and started adding BBS yesterday. I have tried covering the sides but that doesn't work. I am using a 15 W fluorescent bulb I think. How do I get them to start moving around and eating again?

Here are some pics of the larvae swimming into front glass. Some go head first into glass and some swim back and forth.

I would tint the water green with some phyto. When I do that I see immediate results. They come off the sides and start eating. 8 Days your doing well. How many do you have?

Thank you, I will try adding phyto to their tank. This was a small batch of eggs about 1.5 inch circle. Probably due to poor water (nitrates over 200). Normally I have 2.5 - 3 inch circle of eggs but have never got larvae to last this long.

The eggs always hatch over 2 or 3 days. This group I drank a bit to much Jack Daniels and didn't get eggs out the first night. About a third of them hatched and got eaten or sucked in filter. I had about 75-100 hatch the next two days, but lost quite a few in days 2 and 3. I have lost 1 or 2 per night since. If I had to guess I would say I have about 40-50 left.

I just looked in on parents and they are just starting to lay eggs again. This is the first time I have been able to see them spawn up close.

Yep get the nitrates under control and lay off the booze and you'll be all set. :) Good luck with it. Its very cool to see them lay the eggs / fertilize ect.

Maybe that's my problem ... I don't drink enough (Jack Daniels) LOL Good luck, keep the pictures coming !
