Clown/Nem Tank - Need Livestock Suggestions

I am setting up a 50 gal cube-shaped tank with the idea of stocking with a pair of clowns (undetermined as to what type of clowns) and several BTAs. I have been out of the hobby for +/- 15 years. I would appreciate some creative suggestions on tankmates (fish and inverts) for this setup.

I was thinking things like a fire shrimp, serpent star, crabs, snails, ricordea, some type of sand-sifting goby.

Thoughts?

Thanks....

i have a 65 that houses a gigantea and pair of spawning occs and a 70 that houses 3 bta and a pair of sanjay black photons. I have not added other fish for fear it would disrupt their spawning, and have stuck with various snails, as I don't trust the hermits or other inverts either. Of course it just my preferance, but I feel other animals ruin the clown/nem biotope tank.

I'm in the process of cycling a 45gallon cube tank. I plan to keep a mix of hardy corals and BTAs. My focus is clowns.

If I were you I'd go with a pair of clowns in the percula or skunk complexes, bangaii cardinals (CB) and maybe some small blennies. It's really not a big enough tank to go with anything much larger.

Those are some beautiful black ocellaris. I have a juvenile pair of misbars with partly orange faces. I hope their faces turn black like the rest of them; it's such a striking combination.

They'll turn black with age. These are WC and have been in captivity for several years.

They're gorgeous. I like your rock wall too--are you planning to cover it with BTAs? I bet the clowns would love that!

Ditto.

A pair of watchmen gobies, neon gobies or some kind of shrimp gobies might be cool too. A pygmy angel (aka 'cherub angel') might work as well since they stay small.

What kind of sessile invertebrates are compatible with anemones (e.g. that won't harm the anemone or vice versa)?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I never really gave it much thought. The occasional snail will drop into an anemone and become food but overall it's never been too much of a concern. The one type that I might worry over would be an urchin for obvious reasons.

awesome looking clowns!

Thanks. I used them to cycle the tank because while they do make the grade, they are the most expendable of the clown pairs I'm keeping... that and my 18 month old boy likes them. I think this tank may become the permanent home for my thiellei clowns. I started adding cnidarians this past week.
