clown tang compatibility

I would think there would be no problem....The sailfin would be too large to mess with...how big is your clown? and what kind?

The clown tang can get fairly large, and is one of the more aggressive tangs. You might be okay for a little while, but eventually you will need to find a new home/bigger tank forhte clwon tang, or there will bea pretty nasty fight. Clown tangs are one of hte most aggressive tangs.

Yeah, I know the clown is a bugger but I am mesmerized by it's coloration. It's just having trouble keeping up with the macro's that are growing in my tank now so I will just have to manually remove some from time to time.

wow i appoligize lol i really read that wrong and feel stupid but that's ok...I love clown tangs they are awesome fish i want to get one when i finally upgrade

I would pass on a clown tang. Their survival rate is low in captivity. Also they can get big and mean and need really big tanks mainly to calm down their aggressive behavior.

A local guy had to get rid of his 3" clown tang because it was relentlessly attacking his larger orange shoulder and naso in his 240g tank :eek2: Gorgeous fish, really too bad it has such issues....

I would not recommend adding a Sailfin Tang or any Tang to a 125 with a Clown Tang. Especially if the Clown Tang is large(5"+) and is established in the tank.

I have a Sailfin, Blue and Clown Tang in a 200 (96"x24"x20"). They have been in the tank for over a year and all were added at the same time. The Clown Tang and Sailfin Tang are about the same size, about 5" to 6". They used to "fight" on occasion but now the Clown Tang focuses it's attention on the Blue Tang and the Red Spotted Blenny. The Sailfin Tang never backed down and the Blue or Red Spotted Blenny don't even put up a fight so I think this is why the Clown Tang chases those fish on occasion.

I knew the clown tang was aggressive and my stocklist other than him are: 1 false perc, 1 maroon clown, 1 scooter blennie, 1 lawnmower blennie, 1 pajama cardinal, 1 bangaii cardinal, and 3 damsels. I don't really have many fish and don't plan on adding many more. I am just concerned about controlling the growth of my macro's. It sounds like I will have to pruin some back for a little while but as the clown gets bigger he will probably keep up with the growth.
