Clown Tang

What are your water parameters?

It could be stray voltage

Or it could be a normal reaction for a clown tang being in a too small of a tank.

For a high strung, aggressive fish like a clown tang, it is already pushing it, and won't work long term, or a year for that matter.

How long have you had it, and have you added anything else to the tank recently?

Also is your sig correct about what other fish you have in the tank?

he's only 4inches long in a 110gallon. is that too small?

It will be in a few months, maybe less. They require some of the largest tanks of any tang. A 4' is a no-go for these guys. Even a 6' tank would not keep them healthy their entire lives. Sorry for the bad news, but he's got to go, one way or another.

But check for stray voltage while you're at it. That can cause the symptoms you're describing.

ive had the clown tang for almost 3 months and he was really healthy. four days ago i added a yellow tang and a copperband. what does his spazzy swimming mean? just that he' stressed?

It could mean that the new fish brought some "bug" in with them. Or (( and more likely IMO )) the clown tang isn't happy at all with the new additions. They are very very aggressive, and could very well start going after the new additions. And with copperbands being notorious for being hard to get eating, the added stress of a ticked off clown tang won't help.
