Clown Trigger/Coral question

I would be willing to try zoas, shrooms, rics, and leathers.
At least I get away with them with my Picasso trigger. The problem comes with inverts. When I added my trigger he went around and took out snails till they were all dead.

Clown triggers are unique little creatures. They swim around your tank examining the contents, both living and decorative, then take a bite of whatever fancies them. They then return to take another bite, just to make sure that they really didn't like it the first time. Sadly, they seem to like most everything they bite....

If you want a trigger for your reef, and are prepared to deal with the bio-load, consider a Sargassum, Crosshatch or Blue Throat. There are a few others, but they get quite large.

If you work to find a good one they are good as any other fish but they are hard to come by you need to put them in a small tank and try to see if they behave with corals and small fish if not back to the LFS .
This one was the #4 that i try it is a good one so far for little over year now but you need to pull the fish out if you have to it is a very high risk.

I've always wondered if anyone's kept clown triggers in a reef tank. Beautiful tank and livestock; incredibly healthy. Dig the Ric. rock.

I've seen CT (and Rhinecanthus triggers, for that matter) eat all of those things.

Any types of corals that are considered safe in tank from Clown Triggers?

I keep a nice set of duncans with mine and he has never touched them. however he picked at war coral and actually consumed a new star polyp frag b4 they opened up.
im going to try some hammer coral and see what happens or maybe some zoas.

In my opinion, I would only keep a clown trigger as the only fish in a tank with no corals. However, I love triggers and would not hesitate to have a species tank with this as the only fish.

I'm willing to keep them with corals, just not with any that are important to me or irreplaceable. :D
