My family is new to salt water, but we have been doing FW for as long as I can remember. We are getting started with a 50 gal tall, then when we get the salt water down, we are going to upgrade to our 150 gal tank, and make this tank into a Sea horse tank, more about that later. Anyways, we bought this pair of Clowns ( I believe they are maroons) from a pet store. They are both fairly small, one slightly biger than the other, and the smaller one doesn't have 3 stripes, his back 2 stripes are just dots on his back. Here's a picture of him. Sorry about the bad quality, I tried to take the picture not so close to the tank, so it wouldn't stress him, I think you can see it good enough.. So is this bad, will he get his stripes ever?..

It's not really a bad thing (as in it won't hurt him). It just shows that when he was raised he wasn't properly fed. But he will still be healthy if he is fine now.

They wer probably tank raised and are misbarred my percs are the same way they are just different but healthy.

I disagree. Misbarring isn't always a result of poor upbringing/feeding.

If its behaving ok, don't worry about it.

I don't mean for this to sound bad but, I breed maroon clownfish and when fed properly none of them will have that much of misbaring. A little misbaring is actually very common in maroons but that much shows that it wasn't raised properly.

But, ya it can still be a completely healthy fish.

thanks for your replies. It makes sense if the misbaring was caused by not feeding properly, because he is so small. Glad to know there's nothing wrong with him :)
