Clownfish Activity

I've had the pair for about 6 weeks. They were only about an inch long when I got them? Is it normal for one to exert dominance over the other by chasing it and nipping at it? Seems like they may be playing, but I'm not sure sometimes.

P.S. They are the only fish in the tank.

Yes. The bully will become the female and the meek one will do a shiver to keep the bully happy. Once they get past this stage, they will become a pair. One of my previous pairs slept on top of each other.

You don't say what kind of clowns you have and type might or might not add to the aggression as some are simply more aggressive than others.
Regardless, 10 gallons is pretty small for a pair of clowns and I think long term you'll see more issues in that confined a space.

are they the same breed of clown? mixing breeds can cause issues, for instance an ocellaris with a maroon probably wont end well

they are both ocellaris clowns, and about the same age. The "bully" is a tad bit larger.

should calm down over time, you can always expect a little dominance action. they are semi aggressive fish after all. good that you bought the same breed though
