Clownfish and Host?

Can a clownfish (True Perc) be kept without a host anenome? Will they host in a long tentacle plate coral?

Clown Fish do not need an Anenome to survive in a tank. In fact when there not Anemone they will evetually find somethign they like to host in some corals. Right now my 2 false percs host both my frogspawns

I had a mated pair of true percs in a GBT for many years. They spawned quite often. The bubble tip is not supposed to be a host anemone for them but the took to it right away when introduced.
Also had a Clarki in a RBT for a while until the anemone got to big, took the anemone out and tried to replace it with a plate coral, he never went for it.
You see the weirdest combo's with clown's and host so you never know.
