Clownfish Burrow

My gold-banded maroon clownfish has made a giant burrow about 2 x 1 feet in my sand bed. Her anemone moved close to the sand and she subsequently cleared out a pretty big burrow that I obviously do not like. Is there anything you can do about this without moving the anemone (which will likely move back to the same spot anyways)? Any fish whisperers in the central Pennsylvania area? :)

I think this is just one of their behaviours. Could have many reasons I supposed

1) most obvious comes to mind is that this fish is doing some kind of house keeping for laying eggs even though it looks by your pic that she is the only clown.

2) could be something is making the fish nervous

3) might be your fish might have some kind of mental disorder that makes them clean, who knows

My experience has been, once they figure out what the anemone is for, all this digging crap goes away.

Good luck, Kevin

My maroon pair and I have a battle of wills going on. They move the sand away from the LTA and every week I move it back. Not sure why they excavate so much but it seems to be pretty instinctive.
