Clownfish & Coral Beauty Angelfish

Added a Coral Beauty Angelfish to tank about 5 days ago as 4th fish to my 75gal. My False Percula Clownfish has relentlessly chased the Coral Beauty Angelfish since I added it to tank forcing it to stay underneath of a LR. The clownfish anenome is on left side of tank & the clown continuously all day swims to otherside of tank to chase the Coral beauty back under LR. My concern is that it will starve.

I know clowns are territorial, but this determination to harass the Coral Beauty is unreal, & unlike other fish I have added in past. I added a Mystery wrasse about 2 months ago, and the clown just ignored it. Any suggestions, do I need to take clown out and add back to tank later. Anybody have this issue before with a clown, does the clown eventually give up harassing? Any advise would be appreciated.

Clowns are territorial in general. It's really a toss up on whether your clown will give up or not. By the way, I'm not having any clown in my 75 for this reason. Hard to add any future fish once the clown is established. And I don't want to be bitten every time I clean the tank.

I'm guessing the clown ignored the mystery wrasse b/c they can be jerks too.

Like Korrine, I will NEVER have clowns unless it is a species tank with ONLY clownfish and a fancy carpet. It has been my experience that the clown will not give up.

is it a pair of clowns or a single clown? pairs are very aggressive if planning on spawning

It's a single clown that I have had about 3 years, but have never had issues adding fish after it, like I am having with adding the coral beauty angelfish. Have had a flame angel & small juvenile emperor angel in past but the clown didn't harrass them. I always keep a low stock of fish to try to prevent aggression. Just amazed how adament the clown is about keeping the coral beauty trapped under the LR, 6 days now.

Yea, clowns can be quite territorial; but I'm kinda surprised that an occi is that relentless (I'd expect that behavior more from a tomato or a maroon). My b/w occelaris pair get along fine with my coral beauty, tho they won't let my bipartitus wrasse near their sebae. You might try re-aquascaping some rockwork to help with the aggression. & give it more time...Good luck!
