clownfish gender?

How do you determine the gender of a maroon clownfish? It seems to be very bored and needs a "buddy" wink wink.

How long have you had it alone? They will turn female if no other clowns are present. It would be a safe bet to get a clown that is smaller than the one you have now. Make sure that the new one is not the boss of the tank at the lfs or wherever you buy him from.

Its been alone for 3 months

You can assume she is a female then. Go for smaller and not the boss of the tank and you should be ok. Just be ready for aggression. maroons are mean when pairing.
