Clownfish ID: Platinum or Wyoming?

I was unaware that all-white/almost all-white clowns came both as Platinum Percula and also as Wyoming White Ocellaris. I have a pair (well 2, I am not sure how well they are pairing), and I was looking into trying to pair them with another set of clowns.

While I thought they were Platinums, I have been reading about how to identify them and am having some difficulty. Even with good shots of both clowns, I am not sure if I am accurately counting its dorsal fins.

Percula or Ocellaris?

And if a video will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t0N82S2Mqs&feature=youtu.be

So yeah designer clowns may not be your specialty DK :P WW is an off shoot of the Ocellaris :P Not only do I buy my clowns from this site (http://cultivatedreef.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=32_33), but it also makes a great quick reference.

You would be correct, I seem to get them wrong all the time. So are you saying that most if not all designer clowns are occy's even if they have the orange eyes? The eyes are what I always thought determined besides the spine count. I'm an old time reefer before the designer clowns hit the scene, they are very new to me.

Most are Occys yeah.

Truth be told, IME, I don't even attempt to get designer clowns unless I am able to be sure my vendor knows for 100% sure which clown it is. There are 2 rules of thumb I know about and they both can be broken from time to time.

Percula -9 Dorsal Spines, Ocellaris 10 Dorsal Spines
Eye - Percula More orange around the pupil, Ocellaris more black around the pupis

On both of those fish I count 10 Doral Spines so +1 for Occy. The eye appears to be darker more so the lighter so I would lean towards this being an Occy. If you compare the eyes with the picture of the one I posted yesterday it may give a good comparison.

So all that said, I wouldn't definitely call these WW, but my guess would WW and I would only say that with about 70% confidence.

I agree with Amoo. Given the dorsal spine count, the darker tint in the eyes, and formation of the tail color this is most certainly a Wyoming White pair :-)
