Around a month ago, I bought a pair of percs that had previously been together for around 8 months. Both are mature, one considerably larger than the other. In the previous tank, they seemed to be a pair.
Since being in my aquarium, they have a tendency to spend the majority of the day on opposite sides of the aquarium. The female hosts the RBTA while the male wonders about the tank. The female does give the male a beating when he gets in the RBTA. They do, however, somewhat sleep in the same location.
Questions: Is the female no longer accepting the male as her mate? Should I split the pair off? Should I allow it to continue as long as neither fish gets hurt?
