Clownfish Problem?

I just noticed that both my mocha clowns have dark spots on them. This is something new that was not there before. They have not been fed in 2 days because I'm trying to catch a flame angel and want to make them hungry so the flame will go after the food.

The water params are good last time i checked 2 days ago (ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5-10, pH 7.8, Temp 78, salinity 1.024 and all my Ca, Mg and Alk levels were good). Corals look great, the other fish (flame angel, blue hippo tang and mimic tang) all look fine. Should I be worried??? Help please!

Heres a picture...not the most flattering since she has her mouth open, but I'll take what I can get.

Depending on their size that could just be them growing into their color via pigmentation. I know that sometimes when they are getting their third tail stripe it comes in black before turning white, then the black coloration spreads out some. Perhaps it's just additional coloration they're getting from growing. The best thing you can do is make sure they're eating something nutritious. If they stop eating then you might begin to get worried.

Thanks Toxic. I'm assuming since no one else chimed in that everyone else agrees with him. I just thought I would have gotten a little more of a response by posting a questions about my clownfish in the clownfish and anemone forum...guess not. It is a stupid question but just wanted to see what everyone else has seen in their experiences seeing that I'm new to this.

Hmm, i wonder what they might be brushing against that could be doing that. Mainly SPS (few millies), and LPS which are all in cages to be protected from the flame angel. Thanks Shifty.

Is there any way these spots might be from a stray electrical current or something? I've seen that discussion elsewhere and cant seem to find the discussion board it was on.

I never heard about the stray voltage before but it is possiable i guess.

here is an old pic of my occ clown that had coral sting marks from my torch coral.

cool...thanks for the pic. I have no idea what could have stung them, although I just found a small aptasia stow away in my rock. Dont know how he got in there since i started with all base rock, but oh well. Do you think that maybe he got them? Maybe some of the millies? The same fish I posted pictures of now has damage to one of her pectoral fins so I'm lost with this stuff now. no clue what's going on, but the other fish seem completely fine.

It looks like what I have seen when clowns live with LPS corals (torch, hammer, frogspawn, elegance, etc. ). The spots usually go away in a few weeks.

I have never heard this happening with sps corals or aptasia, but just because I have never seen or heard of it, doesn't mean it never happens.

well, I do have a few Favias in the tank which have some pretty long tentacles. That could explain it. It looks like the spots are getting better already.
