I have a small clownfish (percula) that has been in my quarantine tank for a week. SG 1.015 (same as lfs), temp 80, 3 lbs live rock and sponge filter for filtration, plus pvc for hiding.
I haven't medicated the fish at all yet. The fish is doing very well - eating frozen foods, swimming around a lot, etc. The lfs said it is tank bred and raised. The fish was in a bank of tanks at the lfs that had a number of other fish, all of which appeared healthy. The lfs supposedly quarantines its fish before selling.
This will be the first fish going into my display tank, which has bee up for 6 weeks with live rock and sand, plus inverts (hermits, snails, and shrimp).
Should I just continue to watch the fish for another 2-3 weeks and then put it in my DT after a freshwater dip, if it shows no signs of disease? I know a lot of people medicate all fish in quarantine as a matter of course (Cupramine and PraziPro seem like a standard treatment), whereas others think it stresses the fish unnecessarily if done when the fish doesn't show any signs of disease. Clowns, while hardy, do seem to have their share of issues (not all of which are addressed by Prazi and Cupramine).
Thank you.
