Bonded means they act like a pair: always together, showing territorial behavior, maybe some spawning behavior and the female is probably bigger. "Select" is marketing hype, the breeder/dealer/whoever thinks this pair looks better than most.

I don't know if all "select" pairs are a M&F; or just two smaller clowns that will usually turn into a M&F pair. If they come from a reputable source, I would assume the word "pair" means they have acted like a bonded pair and are not just two fish. All the designer clownfish are confusing; IMO, Mother Nature did just fine with the originals. Personally, I think some of the designer clowns just look like window mannequins. But I expect cloned fish to be next.
Bonded/Mated:
Some people want to buy clowns that they know will likely breed. Whether they try to actually raise them or not is another story.
People who have mated pairs also won't want to split them up when selling.
And finally...if you buy two adult clowns you better be sure they're either mated or been living together for a while. Because if you buy 2 female clowns they will fight to the death. Even if one is female and one is male (or sexless) there is a risk of aggression which means you could lose one.
Select:
Home grown clowns have a variety of markings and misbars, some that are very cool. ...and will cost you more $$$.
Does it really matter? Not if you buy them before they turn male or female and don't care about special markings.

Seems like a lot of people misundertand the "Select Pair" meaning in DD. Here'a response from Live Aquaria:
Thank you for your email. Fish labeled as "bonded pairs" have been paired up at our Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility, while those labeled as "select pairs" were kept together at the ORA facility before being moved to our own facility for retail sale. Any time our Diver's Den offers clownfish that were either collected from the wild together or observed spawning together in tanks, they will be listed as "mated pair."
I have discovered having a "bonded" pair is a pain in the ***. I bought 2 clowns together they were not bonded at the time but eventually they became a bonded pair. From what Ive read it actually requires a significant amount of effort to attempt to actually raise the fry, which I have no desire to do. And now that they are laying eggs on almost a bi-weekly basis they are extremely territorial. They are the bullies of the tank and will even attack my hands anytime I attempt to clean the tank. They have also attacked any coral frags I have tried to put near the rock where their eggs are. I consider getting rid of them on a weekly basis, I just havent brought myself to do it yet.
