Clownfish strange behaviour

Hello everyone,

Sure you guys have had people ask countless times about off behaviour in clowns but I am now seeing some in one of mine!

55 litre nano tank

Parameters
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ph around 8/8.1
Phosphates 0 (using phosguard in a media bag to help this)
Specific gravity 1.030 (a little high I know!)

Running a hydor koralia 900l/h wavemaker and a fluval 55l/h filter.

So lately one clown has just been swimming in one spot low on the sand bed almost touching it really. Now and again she/he will swim up and seem normal I think but then goes back to the spot. I took a short video so you can see for yourself.

Any thoughts/help would be very much appreciated.

It's hard to tell from the video, does it appear to lean to one side? Ime that's typically not good and could signal stress. however if there is not a host available I have seen clowns find a spot in the sand they like that is protected by rock work and the sand will be their host I had a pair of perculas do this before they starting spawning in a tank without any hosts. I put a flower pot in there for them and they moved to the pot

Also you really should lower your salinity a little bit a day for the course of a week or two get it down to around 1.021 to 1.025 just remove some saltwater and replace with rodi water

Too high SG. May be stressed. You can safely lower SG quickly but if it went from low to that high... Yep, that's your issue

First. try doing a small 10% water change once a week to get your salinity down.
Second. All clownfish are undetermined until it gets a mate and claims the dominance. The more dominant clown will turn itself into a female which will be the bigger clown of the pair. My clowns sometimes stay close to the sand and still not sure why but I am not worried because its swimming up when it needs to so it can get its food and then her and her mate go back down to where they stay. So overall I wouldn't be too worried as long as she's eating.
