clownfish swimming behavior..

This is my first clown fish and I'm not sure what constitutes "normal swimming behavior". It's a 3inch Ocellaris clown and he keeps swimming up and down real fast but isn't coming up for air. Just swimming is all. He doesn't do it forever though, he has a pattern. He stays in the side of the tank for about 3 seconds, then goes up and down about 2-4 times, swims across and comes back. But he is constantly swimming up and down up and down and i'm wondering if something's wrong. He doesn't have ich or any white spots, eating but he's always swimming up and down near the glass. Is this normal?

Water parameters are all stable, ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0, salinity is 1.026
temp 80

Maybe he sees his reflection on the glass? What do you mean by "isn't coming up for air"? Fish get oxygen from the water. Oh by the way, clowns are not normal.

well mine has become quite good friends with my blue damsel and they spend all day together there is no pattern the swim in only when he comes to get his food in a straight line

very weird. I have a pair of firefish in my other tank and they have no pattern they just eat and move about. I think the reflection thing may be right. that or she's "bored" or in need of some stimuli. I am going to get another fish to keep her company and she how it turns out.
