My clown fish recently started to host my anemone for the first time about 2 weeks ago. He now is in love with it. So much he is sucking on the tentacles!! I noticed also that his lips are HUGE. They are swollen like he just got botox!

Has anyone had any experiences with this? Swollen lips? Is he gonna be ok? Do I need to remove the anemone? Any help would be great.

Wow I have never seen a clown look like that. I do know that clowns will put the tenticals in their mouths. Why, don't know. Mine do it with both my bubble tip and mag anemone. They however do not have that reaction from it.

After talking with some local people, I was told if my clown fish was tank raised (which I believe he is) that he may just be building an immunity to the anemone, and that will make his lips swollen when he puts the tentacles in his mouth. So hopefully he will be just fine after the acclimation is done. Anyways, Ill keep anyone who is interested in this updated :)

Just wanted to update the status of my clown.

After about 2 weeks of my clown fish having swollen lips and slightly swollen gills from sucking on the anemone tentacles, he is finally back to normal :) I can only assume that he was tank raised and after being introduced to the anemone and putting the tentacles in his mouth that he had to build an immunity to the anemone.

So if anyone has a similar issue let your fish be and let them build the immunity. If all goes well they will be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
