So i came home today from work and saw that my brand clownfish (which looked perfect when I got him) has a big bruise on the upper protion of his body, and has seemed to grow a little bigger in about 5 hours. However, i also noticed at that time that an aptasia found its way into my system........ Im thinking that this is what caused my clownfish to get pretty messed up? What o you guys think? I wish I could post a pic.....but my 4 year old "fixed" my camera....

I seriously doubt it was the aptasia...i've got some in my tanks...and i've got some HUGE ones, and i've got clowns in both tanks and have never seen them or any other fish for that matter getting stung by the aptasia. What else is in the tank?

just a cave transparent goby, a scooter blenny, a serpent star, a feather duster (tiny), and about 20 snails/crabs.......He looked fine this morning when I went to work.......when I came home, almost half his body looks bruised and grey.......happened within 9 hours! If he's not a bad fish.....I cant think of one thing that could have done it......

It could have swam into the aptaisia and got stung and then hit a rock afterwards.Without a predator fish to run him into a rock it has to be the aptaisia. Is it a tank raised clown?Maybe that his why he would try to host an aptaisia.

Yeah, I would bet that it is tank raised (the lady at the store didnt say, but its an educated guess). Also, there are no other predator fish that I know of, so its got to be the aptasia. So how do you get rid of aptasia? Can you just pull them out?

Inject them with lemon juice or kalkwasser. Or you can take them of the tank scrape them off and cover the spot they were on with kalk paste.
