My new fish the Royal Gramma has been pickin on my Clownfish. Is it true that Royal Grammas tend to nip? Cause I feel sorry for my clown and is it ok to have a false clown with a black clownfish or just to have two clowns in one tank?

hummm, my clown is normally picking on my gamma. My gamma will then pick on my wrasse. I guess gammas are territorial towards others if they mess with their bolt hole. that could be whats going on. As far as 2 clowns, most balck clowns are a. ocellaris which false clowns also are a. ocellaris. The common names are funky, but they actually might be the same fish. I wouldnt have more than 2 unless it is a super large tank

oh well its only a 20 gallon...I guess I'm new to this stuff and just startin out. What kind of wrase do you have? WEll yea my gamma was really shy when I got him until 4 days later he comes out only for a little bit and when he eats. and when he comes out he tends to nip on my clown. I guess my clown should teach him a lesson..

I have a 6-line wrasse and normally they can be bullies but I think I got a milder one. the gamma and the 6-line turf it out, as in they have their own area/hole and it is kinda a competition between the two but no major incidents other than the wrasse swimming vertically with fins extended and the gamma displaying its gigantic mouth. The clown is normally never bothered and will back the others into a hole if annoyed.

oh...WEll yea I don't know whats wrong with my Gramma but I guess he can be territorial against my clown. Good thing they both are still living. I wanted to get a wrasse myself and it was either the gramma or the wrasse.

My royal gramma and my little clown never got along. The bigger clown always had to chase him away. Now we have added a fair wrasse and the gramma has met his match. I know that the gramma's can nip but most of the time ours just opens his mouth and looks like he is barking. Hope this helps.

Well your clown is bigger then your Gramma? So now the fair wrasse picks on your Gramma but not the clown? Im thinking about getting a wrasse.
