Clownfish w/ Damsels

I have 35 gallon salt water. I just recently put in 3 blue damsels (all 3 three females, I assume with no yellow tail and with a black spot on the fin) anyway...i doing this to help cycle the tank, but the tank has been cycling with live rock for over a month now so the water was safe to add fish (my levels are good) but anyway I want to add a pair of clowns eventually but i also don't like the idea of taking back my 3 damsels to the store after cycling. Could a pair of clowns, 3 damsels and a tang exsist in the same tank? All I really want is 3 damsels, a pair of clowns a tank and a star fish.

I know damsels are very much related to clowns, but I am afraid all those fish might be too territorial.Do I need to sacrfice my damsels for my clowns?:rollface:

Damsels are aggressive and would most likely try to mess with or kill the clowns . A 35 gallon tank is too small for a Tang of any kind, as they need the swimming room.

So what fish peacefully co-habitat with clowns, other than anonemoes? I am new to this and I apologize for my ignorance, but i don't want to hurt any fish or cause them uneeded stress by putting aggressive species together.

Clownfish technically are damsels you are right KatieGurl. Sure, you can put damsels and clownfish together as clowns vary a lot as far as their sturdiness and temperment. I think big Clarkiis, Maroons, Tomatos and Melanopus clowns are pretty bold and could survive with most fish that aren't big enouch to eat them. I don't think you would have trouble mixing them with blue damsels.

I don't think you would want clowns like perculas, skunks or anything like that because they tend to be very nervous edgy and aren't very hardy.

JamesJR is right about the clowns being damsels and the other comments made. I think it is hit and miss with them coexisting together.

Have to agree with hit or miss. I have 2 samll perculas and a full grown srgt. major, and they all get along great, however, the damsel is very easy going, has'nt messed with anything the entire time I've had him, also the percs are not shy at all, they eat out of my hand and swim all over the tank with out being bothered or botheringanything else. There are no tangs that will fair well in a tank that size, the smallest tang I believe is the yellow tang, it reqiures a 55 gal or bigger though some say bigger. If you do get clowns I would get ride of at least 1 or 2 damsels. Just my 0.2 though.
