Hi. i have 2 clown fish which i belive are a boy and a girl. im new to having a tank and i would like to no what are the chances of my fish mating. thank you for any information.

If you keep your fish fat and happy, chances are that they will mate. It may take a while but if they feel safe, they should lay eggs sooner or later.

Not all the time. Sometimes that's just them jockeying to determine which one will become the female.

I have had a maroon pair that i have been trying to mate also...they have there little biting sessions from time to time but no eggs yet..Good luck..

the guy at the fish store said that they are compatible but im just making sure. one of the clowns is black the other is the traditional color will this make a diference?

Also, how can you tell the difference between "dominance biting" and agression?

I have a pair that bite at each other too. One occassion there is a bit of a chase/skurmish, but mostly light fin-nipping

The first in the pair is one I have had for several months. The other is a TB juv that I just put in the tank yesterday....

If you see torn fins, that would indicate agression to me. I've never had torn fins when they were vying for dominance.
