Clowning around w/ Softies

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
On the subject of OCL = Ocellaris (False Percula), what's an agreeable softie that they can "play" in that won't sting the life out of everything else in my tank, or toxify it when it (certainly will) die and end up as a blob-o-goo on the bottom of the tank, short of a full-blown heteractis??

Currently, mine are seeking shelter / playing in a larger field of Yellow Polyps (Parazoanthus sp.), but they want a fluffier bed.

Long polyp leather, frogspawn, xenia, zoanthids, hairy mushrooms, torch coral, powerheads...these are all things that Ocellaris have been known to play in happily.

Powerheads!!??! LOL!!

Well, if my falsies (percs) have a pre-occupation with the Yellows, can I really use a laser pointer to get them into the new frogspawn colony I just got?? Thanks Richard.

Lisa, Ours love the pink Palys too. Probably just coincidence, or maybe they prefer pink!

mine started out in some green star polyps on the back glass of the tank but shortly after adding the zoas to the tank they started hosting in them.
which was fine with me since the zoas are in the front of the tank and i can see them a lot better... :)
i just wonder what they're going to do when i move them into a tank with a LTA, i'm hoping they'll take to it just as eagerly,,,, we'll see..

Oh the same clown that now hosts in the pinks used to be in a different tank that had no palys and he hosted in the Green Star Polyps. Funny that our fish chose the corals to host in.

Okay.... I broke down.

Sunday, I was over at the LFS lusting after a mint-green Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) for my false percs to play in, besides their favorite yellow polyps (parazoanthus).

After a 20-minute debate with myself over available tank space & money, (okay… it was really more Money than space), I caved in and bought the animal..... (Big trouble thi$ week with the $pousal Unit) Phew! Bad week!

Anyway, the critter popped right open and enjoyed the MH about half way down into the tank, then footed itself into a crevasse in the LR, somewhat hidden from the light. I know he needs to come out into the light, so I'm hoping he'll come out into the open, once he acclimates .

I’ve also heard I can use a laser pointer to speed the host attraction in the new BTA for the OCL. Does that really work?
