clowns and rotifers

ok so my clowns lay eggs every ten days the first two hatches i lost because i wasn't there to retrieve them. But the third one i managed to get about 50-60 out of the tank and into a 2.5 hatching tank. I read clownfishes by joyce wilkerson which helped greatly. So the morning after the hatch i started feeding rotifers its day 8 now and i have about ten still living and eating well. My main question is everything i read about culturing rotifers says they like a sg of 1.019 but my tank is at 1.026 it also says that if you put rotifers in water with a sg with a diffrence of .007 they will go into osmotic shock and die. Well since my clowns came out of the dt thats the gravity water there in and my rots are being cultured at 1.019. I done want to feed the clowns dead rots because i read that was bad. So what should i do gradually lower the sg of the hatching tank to closer assimilate the rotifers sg. Will this be bad for the larvae? I would rather have dead rots than larvae but i also do not want to keep feeding the newly hatched larvae dead rots?

I kept my rots at 1.023. They may not grow as fast but then they didn't go into shock. You could also acclimate a little before adding them to the larvae tank.

I keep my rotifers and larvae at 1.022 and both are doing very well. I understand that larvae do better at a lower sg so you may want to try lowering the sg of your larvae tank. That way if you add green water to the larvae tank, your rotifers will have the chance to reproduce while in the larvae tank.

Hope this helps!

what tank are your larvae hatched in beach a broodstock tank or your display tank?

I have one pair that lay their eggs on a tile which I remove the night of the hatch and place in a nursery tank. My other pairs aren't as cooperative and are laying on rocks in the tank in which case the eggs hatch in their tank and I have to scoop them.

ok so in either case do you go right to the lower sg? or do you transfer into dt water and then lower sg?
