clowns and temperature

looking to put a small cinnamon clown in a 5 gallon pico tank. I want to avoid putting a heater in the tank if possible. What's the coolest that anyone has successfully kept clowns for extended periods of time? I think the ambient temperature of the room is around 70 degrees or so.

I would think that is just a little too cold.. I keep a percula pair at about 74 with no problems. I think 72 is about your low acceptable mark for long term health.

Cinamon clowns get waaaay to big for a 5g pico. They max at at about 5". I think it would drive a big clown like that mad to be in such a small tank and also very difficult to keep your water quality acceptable. That being said 74F is as low as I would go.

I won't comment about the temperature. I will comment about you putting a cinnamon clown in a 5 gallon tank though. That seems WAY too small for a cinnamon. Especially if there is no sump to keep things really stable.

I think I would be more concerned with your ability to maintain a constant temperature in such a small tank...
unless the room temp is a constant, you will be hard pressed to eliminate large temp changes...
you could be placing undo stress on your clown and potentially end up killing it :(

Yea water chemistry and tank size + clown = please don't do it.... I don't want to see a thread about how your clown is toast....

Don't do it!!
