this is going to sound ridiculous, but i got a juvi occ clown yesterday to go with my other occ clown that i have had for years. to prevent fighting i moved the rocks around and got rid of my original clowns sleeping spot so there would be little to no territoriality. it worked great. within 15 minutes, there was not only no fighting but both clowns twitched at each other.
now here is where is gets confusing to me. when i got up this morning i immediately checked on them and they were sleeping in the corner. i turned on the light to wake them up, which it did. they proceeded to start kicking around the sand in the front corner. there were kicking it like they were trying to move it out of the way.
i tried to feed them which they both ignored, and they kept kicking the sand around. a hermit came over to see what was going on and immediately the new clown went over and attacked it. the hermit went into his shell until the clown moved away, and then he went over some more. then the big female attacked him. same thing. finally the hermit went over to the spot, and he too started kicking around the same spot, and then the female attacked again and he left.
the new clown i got is a juvi, so i dont know if they are mating, dont know if they can mate yet, but from everything i read they were trying to clear out a spot. and what is up with the hermit...btw, there were no eggs dropped that i could see which leads me to believe there werent any, but any ideas. normally i would just say the clowns are bing silly, but the stupid hermit coming over confused me more
