Clowns fighting

I'm in the process of combining our 55g and 24g reefs into one 90g mixed reef. The 90g is cycling and I've been shuffling stuff around trying to figure the best plan of action for the move. I also have a 225g fish and mostly SPS tank. The only clown in it is a single onyx (had two but one never ate and perished within a week). I have a pair of wild caught (first fish, didn't know any better) false percs in the 55g and a pair of black clowns in the 24g - all doing well.

Anyway, I've thought a lot about where the clown pairs should go and since the wild caught false percs are super aggressive (they'll nip at my hand if they get a good shot) and the black pair are nice as can be (I can darn near pet them) that the blacks would be better off in the 225g with the single onyx since he has always been a model citizen. I moved the blacks tonight. They onyx went after them immediately. I was amazed. He has already bitten 1/3'rd of one of the blacks pec fins off. I shut the lights down quickly and figured all I can do is let them sort it out. No real chance of catching them in that big of a tank.

No real question about things since it is what it is but felt like venting. I have to admit the blacks are my favorite and always happy to see me. Hopefully they'll find their own little spot in the tank and the onyx will leave them alone. :worried2:

Well, they worked it out pretty much by the next day. All getting along well now and usually found hanging out together (all 3). Weird but good for now.

Yep, I pretty much felt like an idiot after reading so many times that fighting was likely and they instantly started going at it. Hopefully the peace is permanent.
