Clowns fighting

I have had a black O. clown and a regular o.clown in my tank for about a month now. The black one was really small and I put him in about a week before the orange one.
The orange one picks on the black one but the black one also fights back. Nothing too serious.
However, today I come home to find a piece missing out of the black ones tail. The orange one got him pretty good.
Normally I feed them when I see them picking on each other and after that they are good until the next feeding time.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to stop this agression. I know they are fish and they are going to do what they are going to do but is there any theories or anything that helps. I just don't want to see fins getting nipped.

So you had the black one in the tank before you got the larger orange one?

It could have happened in a week, no one is really sure on how quick it can happen, but you might have two females on your hands...

IMO, pick which one is your favorite and then keep that one, and then later on get one smaller than it...

I'd wait it out a few more days, if aggression gets worse or doesn't improve at all then maybe it's time to separate them.

+ 1 on wait it out. My clowns fought, took out pieces of fins, etc for about a month before they decided to pair up and then the meaner one turned female. If it gets worse....in that the fins don't heal or one turns the other's fins into bloody stumps....then yeah I guess it's time to separate.

I plan on waiting because it isn't too too serious. However, I find it hard to believe that they are both the same sex.
The black one was very smally when I got it..... 3/4" to 1" so I am guessing it wasn't really sexed yet.
Are females usually bigger or smaller?

females end up being bigger...and i have two small picassos that is in the same situation...one is constantly getting picked on...ironically, it's the one that's been in the tank longer too...it's been going on like that for ~two weeks now...it's back fin is ripped up (pretty bad)...but no blood yet...i noticed yesterday that they're starting to swim around together a little more now so maybe the pairing is slowly happening...

waiting is a good idea...

Ya this was actually me, my friend is awkward and he left himself logged in on my PC.
Anyways, my orange clown is definitely a female so because the black one was so small I am hoping that he turns out to be a male. (or stays a male for that matter)

This could be a close one, but I am almost certain its a female...I mean, I had this exact same situation with a pair of true percs.
