Clowns in a 10g?

Coral Junkie
I was wondering if I could I keep a pair of True Percula in a 10g? Those are the only two fish that would be in the tank.

Yea that's what I thought because I wanted to Cinnamons but found out they got too big. About the same size as tomatoes. True Percs are fine with me. :)

Jim... Looks like you had the same idea as I did. Finally got the tank filled with coral and tonight I added two very small clowns. Can't tell if they are true percs or false percs. Hoping to post a video tomorrow for an ID.

i dont think any full grown clowns should live in tens 30 20 mabee

You're right. And I'm sure most people that responsibly keep clowns will move them to a larger tank when the need arises. I have plans for a 30-40 gallon tank just for them when they get larger. But right now mine aren't full grown. Both are under one inch and I personally feel like a 10 gallon tank is very adequate. ;) :D

My true percs have been in a 12 nanocube for over a year. I don't know if they're happy, but they appear to be healthy.

To be honest, I never trully understood the need for such large tanks unless the clowns were physically cramped. Obviously the majority of clowns get to big for a 10, but not a perf, osc or skunk. I mean they spend the majority of their life in one small place in the wild. If they were free swimming fish or something then I'd see the point. But these fish live in anemones their whole life and rarely venture far from them.

My thoughts exactly.

I have two clown is a 110 gallon and they stay in a 1 foot square area of the tank. I do not think they have been out of this area. I think a 10 gallon would be fine.

i have seen tomatoe clowns take up 3/4 of a 120 gallon tank. even when they had eggs they would use a large space. a pair of false percs lived in the tank as well, however the tomatoe clowns kept them on the other 1/4th side of the tank.

i have had my false perc in her 10 gal with a royal gramma for about 6 months now, just got her a boyfriend to beat up on few days ago. in two months however everyone is moving into my new 65 gallon tank.
