Clowns in a bubble coral?

J.russell

What was I thinking???
Im gonna head out tonight and pick up a long tenticle anem because since I put the 2 clowns from my other thread, in my tank last night, they have been trying to host in my bubble coral.

Is this unusual or safe for them?

They are fairly large fish 3-4" and nice and fat so Im kinda scared they might kill my coral so Ill have to get a fairly big anem.

Just wanted some thoughts on this :)

From what I've heard - but not experienced - some corals will get used to this behavior - and it will kill some! Maybe someone else has better advice... How is the coral reacting to it? My clowns always host on my fox coral - and it doesn't mind, but my flower pot did mind...

Don't go buying an anemone just yet, give it a couple days to see if the coral is reacting negatively. Some corals are fine with it, others are not.

If you decide you really want a nem - make sure you shop around a lot first and get a really healthy one... It's important if you are going to give it a good life. They also need a well established tank - how old is it? I don't know about your lighting either - BTA's need less than LTA's - but they all need good light...

Well last night the bubble coral would shrink right up but today when one of the clowns was rubbing and swimming right ontop of the coral it didnt react. Stayed nice and big.

As far as lighting, I have PC's on the tank 4x96.

Its a 125g with about 140lbs of rock and Its been up and running for about 8 months now. Had fish in it for about 6 months.

If it's still opening up and acting healthy - then it could be a fine relationship - however if the coral starts declining then you might need to separate them or try something else...
