Clowns in Shallow Tanks

Hello,

I'm looking into making a custom 12 gallon tank and I'd like to have an ocellaris or picasso perc as the solo fish in the tank. I wanted to keep the tank shallow, for something different. Would 12" be too shallow for the clown? I have an ocellaris in my 34 gallon, which is a 20" cube, and he swims up and down the whole tank all day. So I am really unsure. Thanks in advance!

my big tank is 14 inches tall and its no problem and i have clowns in my about 8 inches of water in my 20L with DSB.
