Clowns taking food away from nem?

Why would my clarkii take food out of the nem? I finally got new bulbs for my 2 x 250w MH fixture (running on 1 MH before that). The LTA is enflated, but tenacles are 1/2 inflated rest look like spaghetti, mouth is 1/2 out.

So I tried to spot feed it (chopped raw shrimp 1/4" size), layed it right in the center of the nem, and the clarkii comes over and takes it out?

And is the LTA have to acclimated to the new lights? when he was put in there was only 1 X 250w.

Thanks

I would put some window screening b/t the tank and the lights --- it can be supported by egg crate. Would put 3 layers there, and remove a layer every 5-7 days.

I have seen clowns do this, just have to chase them away while it is eating. With a fully healthy anemone that shouldn't take any time at all.

If you look at the right side of this picture, you can see what I am talking about with the egg crate and screening.

So my nem is in stress from the lighting?

Assuming everything else about your tank is in check, and that the anemone was healthy prior to this -- you have doubled the light, which will have an affect.

I feed cyclopeeze in my tank when I feed my anemones. My clownfish will remove food from their anemone even without the intention of eating it, I don't think they trust anything I do in the tank and they bite me to let me know it! My clownfish don't care what I put in the anemone if there is cyclopeeze in the water.
