Clowns with Freckles?

I have two oce. clowns. Last week, I thught I saw a couple brown spots on the larger fish. Yesterday, my son said he noticed "the smaller nemo has freckles". He is 16, so certainly capable of telling large from small. But, this morning, we could not find spots on either of them - to be fair, the lights had not turned on yet.
Any thoughts on what that might be? Especially if it is really transient like that? We only have a few other fish, and none of them show any strange marks.
If I see them again, I will try to take a decent picture.
Maybe it was just a melanin thing? I know fish can change colors at times...
Please share your wisdom!

It's VERY common for light colored clowns, like ocellaris and perculas, to get black spots when they are using coral as a host. Probably sting marks. Do you have zoo's in the tank, or are they using something else as a host?

Thanks for the replies! The spots are not really "black" though brown isn't exactly right either. I am going to try to take a picture later.
Is it possible that the spots are "poo" running through the system? They are pretty translucent fish afterall...
Sting marks, I guess it's possible. They aren't really setting up shop in anything right now. I don't have (or want) and anenome. I have some GSP that the smaller one cruises through occasionally, and some frogspawn, hammer, and Duncans that I suppose they could use (or get stung by).
Again, I will try to post a pic later...
