question

Hello all,

I cannot find the proper place to post this, so I will just go ahead. I am located in New Mexico and am interested in becoming active in a local reefers community. If there is a way to get on a mailing list, or contact sheet please let me know. Never been to a meeting but am interested in doing so. thanks

Chaka

P.S. i like NewMACS to answer the original thread question ;)

Is there an official way you have to sign up or any fees I need to pay? Just let me know so I can get it done.

not yet, so far we are just showing up and doing things, quite a laid back group for now. no dues/fees to speak of. As the membership grows and progresses I assume there will be some. so just stay active on the forum and show up for the meetings.

Hey guys! My name is Lina and I am currently one of the BODs from the Nebraska Marine Society. I will be moving to Albuquerque at the end of summer. Still trying to figure out all the details. :) Of course my number one priority is to join a reef club!

I tried googling NM reef clubs and cant seem to find much. I undertand that the club has a new name, NewMACS, but is there a website? Who is in charge of the club? What kind of evens does the club hosts? How many members does the club currently have?

Thanks

Well I guess we will be welcoming you to NM, Lina. What on earth brings you to NM>?.... and what the hell is a BOD? ....I mean..I know what I think it is but...prob not the same thing. :)

im with soulsanctu on the above post. and i can think of many things BOD stands for lol. so welcome to NM when ya get here. and ya dont wanna come to the state of entrapment/enchantment....trust me. lmao see ya when ya get here

as far as i know, i dont know whose in charge of this mess, my best guess is eric or tony lol. but if they want my vote they gotta at least take me to dinner dangit, lol. our last event we went to the aquarium and behind the scenes tour. it was awesome u can see some of the pics that were taken by beerguy, (whose awesome and i still am not photogenic). we pretty much laid back group with a semi-structure of some similiance of an order.

Thanks a lot CJ lmao....
Yes we are loosely meeting at this point be we are working on more soon..
we need to have another meeting soon
stay tuned!!

haha BOD stands for Board of Directors. My family moved to Farmington and i want to be close to them but Farmington is a little to small for me so Albuquerque it is!

Welcome to NM when you do get here. Albuquerque is pretty small too but not so bad of a place depending on where you live and work here. Out of every place I have been we probably have the worst drivers here. Oh, and we only have a few fish stores out here.

Welcome Lina :)

NewMACS is a newish club. Not necessarily new people, but newly organized. There is no current BOD and meeting schedules are still being figured out. Right now, we tend to have either an event or meeting every other month. This past month, many of us gathered at the Albuquerque aquarium for a behind the scenes tour (really cool!). That technically was the third meet since we decided we wanted a real club in the area.

Right now, I'd say the focus is solidarity and not formality. We want to get to know each other, get to know our particular passions, and figure out how we can help each other as a determined club. Formality (BOD etc) comes in time. I've been part of a hardcore club before and we are a ways from such structure, but we certainly have a lot of passionate people here who have the ability to see it that far!

Stay tuned and keep an eye on this RC forum (we have no other site at the moment) for future events. No doubt there will be something in May (if not June). Most are in Albuquerque but some are elsewhere. I'm in Santa Fe.
