cmcneil's reef savvy build thread

Why you lookin at that site chris? huh? you hiding something? i know your back gives you problems all the time but come on :) just kidding. Your cadd looks sweet so I can't wait to see what it all looks like when its set up

Lol what are you thinking of growing?I'm going to grow corals ;)all kidding aside from all I have read these ballasts are really nice so I'll give them a shot.I'm sure they are just as good as the galaxy's and look cooler IMO.I'm really excited to get the tank but have alot to do before so glad it is taking so long.now I need to find a loaner MH ballast for about one week so I can take my LEDs down and cut the heatsink on half.if anyone has a ballast they aren't using and would loan it for a week or so please lmk.I'd gladly hook someone up with a frag or two for borrowing it.

.....UPDATE.....
things have really come together on my lighting setup.i got some aluminum angle and made a frame for the heatsinks and reflector.i also made the acrylic case to hold everything inside.as of now the light is all wired up and just about ready to go.i just need to get 2 more fans and fan gaurds and one more male connector and this thing is done.here are the pics of the progress made.enjoy.

Looks really nice! Are the LEDs protected from the salt water splashes/air where the holes are in your acrylic?

Rob,Sam,Aaron,thanks for the compliments.

No the LEDs aren't protected by the acrylic.however my last led fixture was the same as this and I didn't have any issues with corrosion or splash since they sit about a foot off the water.I could easily glue on a spacer sheet and add a splash gaurd over the LEDs if I wanted.

Chris on a serious note you could make a killing making and selling custom lights!! I mean your light is sick! Not sure what you do for a living but with the recent LED craz you would deff. Be busy.....keep up the good work!

Has the tank arrived? I am interested in seeing details of the workmanship as I am considering purchasing a tank from Reef Savvy too. Thanks!

The tank has been postponed on my end till the end of this month.I will pick it up at the end of this month and continue the build then.since we have the puppies my time and funds have been limited.
