Coating the inside of a stand

What is used to coat the inside of a wood stand and canopy.

I was looking at minwax polyurithane from lowes.

Make sure you use many coats. I used two coats on inside of a stand made of MDF, which began to crumble where the water splashed on it near the inlet of the sump. It never failed, but, after a few years would have become a problem.

If I was doing that again, I would probably go with an epoxy paint, or else, six or eight coats of poly. Needles to say, you won't be able to re coat it with your equipment in there.

Good luck.

Ryan.

Well my stand is actually made of painted steel and the wood is just a skin of poplar that I can easily remove. Hopefull if I ever had a problem I could remove what I needed and recoat or replace.

I just didnt know what everyone was using. I am building everything myself, including raised panel doors. My original plan was to put a layer of 1/8" sheet PVC between the stand and cabinet but im not sure if I am still going to do that.
