So after the last meeting I have given this thing considerable though. Actually I had been doing considerable research beforehand, but Phil's fantastic notes helped me fully understand why this device would actually work as well as why most people who complain about it not working usually failed to properly adjust the flow through the device. (Thank you so much Phil for clearing up the confusion :artist: ).

With that said, I decided this weekend to undergo the adventure to build one and give it a shot. My tanks last test shows that it is finally time for a good old water change since my nitrates are slowly on the rise at about 5ppm. So after I setup some buckets of water mixing my salt for the upcoming change I head to Lowes to see what I need.

All in all most of the materials are already lined up, precut, and ready to go. Short of some simple drill work, glue and a little patience with the tubing this seems to be a relatively easily little project. Its off to the lfs for some bio-media and then assembly time. Pictures to soon follow...

Okay, so I tried and failed miserably at photos of this thing. Turns out trying to take pictures as your trying to manhandle tubing isn't really feasible. Good news is that I learned a few tips and tricks in the process. After a few weeks of running this thing my tank is at 0 ammonia, trites, and trates where before my nitrates where sitting at about 10ppm. :beer:

I will always take some bio balls. I would like to turn out another one of these and see if I can slimline the process. I have a few ideas of how I can reduce the overall cost of making one of these but would like to put it to the test. Having the bio media though would sure make it easier.
