I just read about a denitrification method using about 200' of 1/4" hose. It suggested coiling the hose in a bucket to contain it an keep light out. then siphon water through it at a very slow rate.
The theory is that all the oxygen would be exhausted early on in the coil, and anoxic bacteria would colonize the rest of the tube and work similar to a deep sand bed.
This sounds interesting to me because I have a 20 long tank that's only 12" deep. So a deep sand bed wouldn't leave much room for anything else.
Anyone using or tried this method?
thanks.
