cold frags

Just got a package delivered with some frags in.
The inside of the thermos ( thermos shipment) seemed a little cold, so I dropped a thermometer in it after I took the frags that were in bags out and tested the temperature.
It was 60.2 degrees.
I'm a little worried, but that is the chance I took ordering some corals in at this time of year.

What is the coldest anybody has seen zoanthid/paly frags survive shipping?

no worries i have had a box of zoas no protection sitting on my porch during a ice storm i had to chip the box off my porch all colonies that i had opened ok but the shipper still sent me more as replacements. not a bad deal

I had some arrive at 66 degrees and lived. 60 degrees is crazy, you can only wait and see. Did you slowly warm them? That's the key to keeping anything alive that arrives that cold. I surely hope they make it my friend.

Mucho

I did place the bags in a bowel of water that was about 68-69 degrees for about 20-25 minutes before floating the bag in the tank water that was about 77 degrees.

They do look alot better tonight, than they did this morning.
Still really small, but not unexpected,,, for being in such cold water.:eek1:

You have nothing to worry about. I was deployed last year and upon arriving home, I found I was left without power due to the big ice storm that hit the Seattle area. The power was out for over 2 and a half weeks and my tank dropped to around 49 degrees. My Zoas are the only thing that survived.

Wow must have been some pretty tough zoanthids to survive 2-1/2 weeks with temps down to 49 degrees.

You should be ok. I have packages that arrive cold and they all do ok. Never lost a zoanthid or paly though shipping yet.

I was confident that they would be ok,,, well maybe a little worried.
2 of 4 are looking good.

Just the other day, before I bought some heaters, my tank hit the low 60's everything lived through that cold front...
