cold SPS

I just got in a acro from DD and the water in the bag is 58F. Anyone have an acro come in this cold and survive ?

My lfs just had an entire shipment get held up at the airport yday and he got the bags 36 hrs later. The water was 54 degrees. He took everything out and put in buckets and added prime to reduce the ammonia and slow dripped everything for 2.5 hrs. As of last night he had acclimated everything and hadnt lost a single coral or fish. If your going to drip them make sure you use an ammonia neutralizer because once the water hits oxygen any ammonia in the bag will become toxic

I acclimated mine the same way. Its not dead but the polyps will not come out. Usually
on my new acros right after acclimation the polyps will come out.

how did your acro from DD that was received at 50* work out? Just received 3 the same way.

Too cold is much better than too hot ime/imo. Many corals can overcome a few hours in 50ish degree water, not so much 100 degrees.

My last 2 orders came in around low 60's and everything was fine. I didn't even drip acclimate my most recent order, just float, unbag and into display. I got these from a trustworthy source so I didn't dip.

How long until you saw a return of color?

My acro is doing great. Took about 2 weeks to color up. The cold didnt seem to harm it.
I just got in a few acros from austin aqua farms that came in colder than the DD one and they are just fine.
