I keep a 200 gallon cold/temperate tank down here in southern New Zealand....mostly stocked with encrusting jewel anemones,of varying colours,pink/orange /green/white/cream.
I snorkel at the head of our harbour, where the Pacific water comes rushing in....just what these types of anemone need...lots of current bringing lots of food.
In the tank they are regularly fed on brine shrimp, and a concoction of mashed prawn and seaweed, via a turkey baster...they thrive and multiply on this diet.
The tank has serious water movement with several tunze 6045's,a chiller rated at 1 Horsepower, keeping the temp.at 55-60 degs.F...A Red Sea skimmer,(essential with the bio-load),and simple actinic/daylight tube lighting.
The tank's other inhabitants,shrimp/hermits/starfish/seaweed/clams and mussels....all of which eat/clean and feed each other, providing a near biotope of what they're used to in the wild.
The best tank I've ever had, just as colourful as any tropical marine tank I've had in the past...and I can collect on my doorstep!
